The African Union has re elected the Ethiopian Prime minister to lead its climate negotiation team for and up to the Mexico climate summit.
Ethiopia has submitted its NAMA to the UNFCCC and associated itself with the Copenhagen accord. The NAMA composes mitigation actions in the power, waste and transport sectors. Actions were presented in the form of projects, obtained from plans under sector institutions of the government.

Mr Ambachew F.Admassie, chairman of Ethan Bio-Fuels Ltd, has been elected as one of the two international private sector observers for SREP (Scaling up renewable energies program) of the Climate investment funds. The CIF is a 6.4 billion dollars fund established by the world bank, the Africa development bank, the Asia development bank and the European bank for reconstruction………

Ethan Bio-Fuels Ltd has been proposed as the most qualified Ethiopian private entity to represent the private sector carbon finance interest as part of the Ethiopian Negotiation team in the run up to and for the upcoming Global climate change negotiation in Denmark, Copenhagen.
One of the co developers partnering with Ethan Bio-Fuels Ltd has closed finance for the underlying investment. This is believed to increase its chance of success in the carbon finance value chain. “It is a reliving experience and promising to insure that an innovative project transcends the hurdle similar proposals from LDCs would otherwise face in the market.”, Said Ambachew, the chairman of EBF.

Our CEO, Mr Ambachew F. Admassie , has been elected as a co-chairman of the Carbon Finance Work Group (CFWG) of Ethiopia, an initiative that closely works with the DNA office to help identify and assist in removal of barriers to the national Carbon Finance practice.
A workshop to share experiences from other CDM territories and identify host country legal and financial barriers has been concluded on Thursday, September 9, 2009 at the UNECA conference center in Addis Ababa. The workshop was organized by the Swedish Energy Agency. The Brazilian DNA and CDM practice was highlighted as the best model for the Ethiopian situation since they became able to take 10% of the global share of CERs contributed, even if they are with about 98% hydro based grid electricity. One day training on latest practices of ERPA transaction models was also given on September 10, 2009 by Backer & McKenzie, a law firm based in Australia.. Representatives of Ethan Bio-Fuels Ltd attended, learned from and contributed to the sessions.
The CEO of Ethan Bio-Fuels Ltd has been proposed to chair the emergency group to identify barriers to the development and marketing of emissions reductions from CDM projects in the host country. The session was chaired by his Excellency Ato Desalegn Mesfin, Director General and Authorized DNA representative at the EPA. The emergency group is believed to come up with recommendations that would give a leap to some of the stalled project ideas.
